About High Point Bible Chapel
Who We Are
We are a group of people who meet together to worship, pray, study the Bible, and enjoy fellowship with each other. We are a nondenominational church seeking to adhere to the Word of God in our structure and practice.
What We Believe
- Jesus Christ is God come in the flesh. He is eternally equal with God the Father, and the Holy Spirit. (John 5:18)
- The Bible is the inspired, infallible, Word of God. It is our sole authority for faith and practice. (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
- Because of Adam's sin, every person is born with a sin nature and commits sin. As a result, we are lost and in need of salvation. (Romans 5:12)
- Eternal salvation is based on the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is given freely to all who believe in Him as their Savior. (John 3:16)
- Every believer is permanently indwelt by the Holy Spirit at the time of salvation. The Holy Spirit illuminates God's Word to all believers, and gives them the desire and ability to serve Him. (Ephesians 1:13, Philippians 2:13)
- Christ will return at any time, to take all believers to heaven in their new bodies, and they will be with Him forever. (John 14:3)
History of High Point Bible Chapel
Several decades ago, a few believers began meeting in Davenport, Iowa. At one point several who were traveling from across the river decided to begin meeting on their own, forming Oakridge Bible Chapel. In the 1990's, a group of believers who had been traveling from Clinton began meeting on their own, forming Gateway Bible Chapel. At about the same time, the church moved to a new building in Northwest Davenport, where it currently meets.
